Jenny Lindner, Portland Opera's principal harpist, passed away unexpectedly on 7/20/17. Jenny was a member of the Portland Opera Orchestra for over 30 years, as well as teaching and performing in the area. Jenny was a beautiful musician who always played with the highest standards of professionalism. She will be sorely missed bythe musical and harp community.
Jenny started the harp in 1966 with Marion Fouse of Portland. She then got a performance degree from the Eastman School of Music. A scholarship took her to Paris where she studied with Catherine Michel, Marie-Claire and Pierre Jamet. Jenny played Principal with the Portland Opera, the Oregon Ballet Theatre, and worked frequently with the Oregon Symphony. She was adjunct Professor of Harp at University of Portland, Reed College, and Pacific University. Also, she ran a private studio and free lanced. Jenny loved suspense novels, movies, and tennis, but credited the harp with her best adventures.
